Xtraction, Highly Commended for Recycler of the Year
Carpet Recycling UK member Xtraction Ltd has pioneered a zero-waste solution for end of life synthetic sports pitches that would be otherwise sent to landfill.
Using a specialist process, carpet and infill materials from pitches are separated and relocated for reuse or recycling. Reusable surfaces can then be supplied as a low cost option to customers in community settings or schools.
At Redhouse School, in Stockton on Tees, Xtraction supplied reclaimed synthetic grass surface to provide three tennis courts, a custom hockey pitch and a sprint track at half the cost of installing new surfaces.
The company received a Highly Commended certificate at the Carpet Recycling UK awards. Director Tim Gallagher commented: “We were really pleased to receive this commendation; we are proud of our achievements in ensuring end of life sports surfaces are disposed of in an environmentally responsible way and made available for use at an affordable price to our customers.”
